Vascular surgery

Venous Doppler

A standard clinical examination is not sufficient for an accurate assessment of the venous vascular system. For successful treatment planning, a detailed ultrasound examination of the superficial veins – and, if necessary, the deep veins – must be performed in advance.

EXAMINATION

Ultrasound examination is a non-invasive, painless diagnostic procedure that assesses the superficial and, if necessary, the deep venous systems of both lower limbs. In cases of other medical issues, ultrasound can also be used to examine other veins in the body (e.g. upper limbs, trunk).

The examination is performed using a modern ultrasound device in standard and duplex color modes.

Ultrasound enables precise visualization of venous anatomy and functional disorders (vein size and patency, valve condition, reflux).

Ultrasound examination is the foundation for planning successful surgical treatment of varicose veins, as it allows the surgeon to tailor treatment methods to the individual patient and their specific condition.

Ultrasound examination of the superficial veins of the lower limbs is also recommended before the first sclerotherapy of spider veins, as it may reveal the underlying causes of their development.

The examination can be repeated periodically to monitor treatment success or detect potential progression of the condition.
