Nose correction

An overly large, wide or hooked nose can sometimes dominate the face more than we would like and negatively affect our self-image and confidence. With surgical nose correction, we can restore facial harmony and, at the same time, resolve breathing difficulties.

The ideal nose blends naturally into the face and does not draw attention to itself. It should be symmetrical and well-balanced with the other facial features. Compared to the male nose, the ideal female nose is usually more delicate and slightly upturned.

In addition to its appearance, the nose can also cause functional problems, such as difficulty breathing due to a deviated nasal septum.

With surgical correction (rhinoplasty), we can reshape and refine the bridge, tip, nostrils, and nasal septum. In this way, we can:

  • smooth a dorsal hump,
  • narrow a wide nasal bridge,
  • refine and reposition the nasal tip,
  • correct nostrils that are too wide or too narrow,
  • straighten or correct the septum to improve airflow.

A closed rhinoplasty technique is mainly suitable for less complex corrections, such as minor reshaping of the nasal bridge. With this method, all incisions are hidden inside the nose, and no external scars are visible.

For more demanding procedures, we use the open rhinoplasty technique, which provides better visibility and more precise shaping of the nasal structures. In this method, a small additional incision is made across the columella (the skin between the nostrils). Once healed, this scar is usually barely noticeable.

A detailed preoperative consultation and examination are crucial for planning the procedure. Together we will discuss your wishes and expectations, analyse your nose in relation to the rest of your face, and then select the most appropriate surgical technique.

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia and lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours.

At the end of surgery, nasal packing (tamponade) is placed inside the nose and is usually removed at the first follow-up visit, the next day. A small external splint is applied to the nose and remains in place for about one week.

Recovery takes around 14 days. Most everyday activities can typically be resumed a day or two after surgery.

Because of temporary swelling and bruising, we recommend 1 to 2 weeks off work.

For one month after the procedure, sports, heavy lifting, and strenuous physical activities are not advised.

To achieve full facial harmony, the result of rhinoplasty can be further enhanced by shaping the cheeks or chin with dermal fillers at the same time or in a separate session.
