Leg Contouring

Beautiful, long legs — whether on a feminine figure or an athletic male body — always draw attention. Excess fat deposits and loose skin after significant weight loss can cause dissatisfaction as well as physical discomfort. With various techniques, we restore comfort and harmonious leg contours.

Stubborn fat deposits that cannot be eliminated through training can be corrected with liposuction.

The most effective areas for liposuction are saddlebags (outer thighs), inner thighs, and knees.

With VASER liposuction, we can safely and precisely contour the calves and ankles as well.

Loose skin on the thighs cannot be tightened without surgery.

For smaller skin excisions, scars can be hidden in natural creases; for larger excisions, the scar is placed along the inner thigh.

A preoperative consultation and discussion of your goals and possibilities are essential for proper planning. Before the procedure, we will also discuss the extent of treatment and scarring.

Due to the required use of compression stockings, the procedure is recommended in autumn, winter, or spring, when wearing them is more comfortable.

Leg contouring is performed under local or general anesthesia and takes approximately 1–2 hours.

The patient recovers at the clinic on the first day and is discharged the following day with detailed instructions.

In the first few days, activity must be adjusted according to discomfort. Activities can be gradually increased, and normal daily tasks are usually possible within a few days.

Returning to work depends on the nature of your job, and restrictions on movement and physical activity must be respected. Compression stockings must be worn continuously for 6 weeks to reduce swelling, prevent fluid buildup, and support skin tightening.

More About the Procedure

Unfortunately, there is no “push-up bra” for legs. After major weight loss, some women and men may temporarily rely on compression garments to shape the thighs and hold excess skin in place, but slim, defined calves and ankles cannot be “created” — only hidden under clothing. Surgical procedures are the most effective way to contour the thighs, knees, and hips. The possibilities for reshaping the calves and ankles are more limited, though VASER liposuction provides significant improvement.

Stubborn fat that does not respond to exercise can be removed with lipolysis and liposuction. When loose skin is present, surgery becomes necessary. For minor skin excess, the scar can be hidden in the crease; for more extensive laxity, the scar is placed on the inner thigh. After massive weight loss, the incision often must extend all the way to the knee to effectively remove and tighten the skin.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Leg contouring results are permanent if the patient maintains stable weight and physical fitness. Small weight fluctuations do not affect the outcome, but larger changes (either gain or loss) can significantly alter the result.

What Is the Most Effective Method of Leg Contouring?

Legs are most commonly shaped using VASER liposuction. This method avoids the skin laxity that often appears after traditional liposuction. When there is significant loose skin following major weight loss, surgical tightening is required.

Which Areas of the Legs Are Most Commonly Treated?

The most troublesome areas for patients include the hips, inner thighs, knees, calves, and ankles. With modern VASER liposuction, we can successfully contour and reduce even the soft tissues of the calves — the most challenging area. VASER also enhances the shape of the ankles, significantly improving self-confidence and satisfaction.
