A double chin negatively affects the appearance of the lower face and the contour of the neck.

In younger individuals, it most often develops due to the accumulation of fat beneath the chin—fat deposits that are very difficult to eliminate despite proper diet and regular physical activity.

In older individuals, a double chin typically forms as a result of loose, sagging skin that hangs from the lower jaw in vertical bands (the so-called “turkey neck”).

With the appropriate surgical technique, a double chin can be effectively reduced or completely eliminated.
