Chin correction (mentoplasty)
The size and shape of the chin play a key role in overall facial harmony and the appearance of the facial profile. With surgical or non-surgical chin correction, we can dramatically improve facial balance and enhance attractiveness.
The ideal chin shape differs between genders; in women, it is typically narrower and more refined compared to the male chin.
Patients often seek a smaller nose, yet many times the underlying reason for an imbalanced side profile is actually an underdeveloped or recessed chin.
A non-surgical chin enhancement can be achieved with dermal fillers, which improve the shape and projection of the chin. The procedure is quick and simple, and the results last 12 to 18 months.
For a permanent enhancement, the chin can be augmented with a silicone implant that strengthens the projection of the lower jaw and improves profile aesthetics. The procedure is performed under local or light general anaesthesia and takes 30 to 45 minutes. The incision is hidden beneath the chin and heals into a very discreet scar.
Recovery is straightforward, and most daily activities can be resumed the day after the procedure. Stitches are removed after one week. Mild swelling is expected and usually resolves within a few weeks.
Chin correction can also be combined with neck liposuction to refine the jawline and reduce the appearance of a double chin.
