Surgical facelift and neck lift (facelift)
A fast-paced lifestyle and constant exposure to harmful environmental factors accelerate the ageing process, most visibly on the face. Even if we feel healthy and energetic, these changes can make us look older than we feel. With a surgical facelift and neck lift, we can effectively “turn back the clock” by restoring facial volume and skin tension. The result is a rejuvenated yet natural appearance.
With aging, facial skin loses its elasticity, while facial volume gradually diminishes due to reduced soft-tissue volume beneath the skin and resorption of the facial skeleton. As a result, the face appears hollow and sagging. Deep wrinkles develop, jowls form along the lower jawline, and loose skin appears on the neck.
Surgical face and neck lift is one of the most effective rejuvenation procedures, primarily improving the lower third of the face and the neck.
During the procedure, deeper layers containing facial muscles and their connective tissue are first tightened using specialized techniques. The skin is then redraped according to the rejuvenated facial contours. This improves cheek shape and defines the jawline. In the neck area, vertical banding can be smoothed, and a double chin can be corrected.
Because the deeper facial structures are tightened, the results are significantly superior, longer-lasting, and more natural compared to skin-only face lifts, where only excess skin is removed.
A surgical face and neck lift can be combined with brow lift, upper and/or lower blepharoplasty, and submental liposuction.
To achieve optimal results, face lift surgery is often combined with additional rejuvenation procedures. Autologous fat, harvested from areas with excess fat, can be used to restore lost volume in the cheeks and lips (lipofilling). With special processing, the harvested fat can also be used as a rejuvenating serum, applied to the facial skin after surgery using microneedling. This allows the skin to receive natural growth factors and stem cells, accelerating healing and regeneration.
Successful planning and execution of the procedure require a thorough preoperative consultation and examination, during which your wishes, expectations, and available options are discussed. The degree of aging changes must also be considered when selecting the appropriate procedure.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia; more minor localized lifts may also be performed under local anesthesia. The duration of the procedure depends on its extent.
Postoperative scars are discreetly hidden within the hairline and the natural folds in front of and behind the ear, and they become almost invisible over time.
After surgery, you will recover and stay overnight at the clinic under close medical supervision, returning home the following day.
Recovery typically takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure. During this time, most bruising and swelling subside.
Normal daily activities can usually be resumed after 5 days. For optimal recovery, 2 to 3 weeks off work is recommended. Sports and strenuous physical activities should be strictly avoided for at least one month after the procedure.
